In a statement posted today (Monday, July 12, 2010), on the Crystal Cathedral website (http://ccmupdates.blogspot.com/2010/07/dr-schuller-is-not-retiring.html), she said, "Yesterday an article was written and printed by a local Southern California newspaper. It was picked up by other newspapers and disseminated all over the wires that my father, 'Robert H. Schuller was stepping down'; that he was retiring. The article is completely false.

"What really happened was that the Reformed Church in America, California Classis commissioned me this morning, officially as the Senior Pastor/Lead Pastor for the Crystal Cathedral Congregation -- a role that I have been filling unofficially for the last year.

"In my comments following the commissioning ceremony yesterday morning, I made it very clear that nothing was changing as a result of the commissioning service today. It was merely an affirmation of the denomination. Further, I made it clear that it was my call to stand beside my father, to pray for him so he can continue to preach his unique and positive message from this pulpit for the rest of his life.

"It was a very moving service and ceremony for me and my parents, my husband, Jim, and the congregants who were there, who came forward and prayed for me."

She went on to say, "As I told the people this morning, it has been a year of surprises, but the biggest surprise was to feel the deep, deep love that I have for all of you! I truly care about you, as does Dad! We are here for you as you have been here for us.

"It is our call, it is our dream, it is our desire to continue to provide a positive message of love and hope from the pulpit of the Crystal Cathedral, to the people of America and the world.

"Thank you for your support and prayers."
