Flower
Mound, TX, Preachers in churches across America have
used the term, “these are the last days” for years
mentioning earth quakes, wars and rumors of wars and similar
calamities.
However, these
warnings have validity like no other time in history
according to Dr.Steven B. DavidSon who calls this period,
the conclusion-of-the-age.
“It has been
two-thousand years since the Church’s early believers
expected the imminent return of Jesus Christ. However, we
have the advantage of time and historic events now.
Obviously, in order for the things to occur that are
revealed in end-time Scripture such as Revelation, Daniel
and throughout the Bible, world-wide staging was required.
As an example, governments must have a united cause to work
together. This has happened with the advent of nuclear
weapons and particularly the terrorism threat. Economies
had to be interdependent, which is the case today.
Additionally, technology had to be in place to monitor and
control people world-wide.”
DavidSon who completed
his first scholarly study in the field of Eschatology or
end-times in the 1970s at Simpson University a Christian
college currently in Northern California has been watching
these developments for more than three decades. “There are
persons who have been eyeing these conditions longer than I
have. However, we miss the point completely if we are
obsessed with this topic, or ignore it altogether.”
DavidSon a
leading-edge Christian educator, and nation’s preeminent
Christ-based Counselor highlights the most critical end-time
themes and their sequence in his book, the Believer from
Milk-to-Maturity. He further supports his position by
citing the brazen sexual immorality, collapse of family,
rampant fear and hopelessness, and religious instability as
documented by the recent Pew Religious Landscape Survey.
When asked about what
he views as the next events to observe, he reveals, “I’ve
written in my book to look world-wide for the rise of a
charismatic personality. Eventually, this person will be
the combination of a religious, military and political
leader. Also, expect an effort to reign-in and unify all
religious groups into one belief or faith union. Religion
is the most feared threat to governments and their
financiers today in my opinion. Anyone who believes they
will always have religious freedom is in denial. I’m not
saying this will happen, but imagine a cataclysmic event in
the U.S. where the perpetrator is identified as people of
faith. Whether true or not, the general public will cry for
control of religious groups if it will make them safer. We
have the post 9/11 experience as an example where the public
willingly sacrificed personal rights in the name of security
improvements. Historically, the precedent was set with Roman
emperor Nero who blamed Christians for a major calamity,
which led to mass persecutions.”
Finally, DavidSon
revealed what this means to the typical person. “It probably
means nothing to the typical person. But to persons in
Jesus Christ, it is important to forget petty issues, be
watchful for deceptive Christian leaders, and focus on what
is most important.” He also warns persons who believe
they’ll be caught-up or “raptured” before any type of global
persecution. DavidSon shares that he hopes for the same,
but no one can be completely sure. “The timing of a
messianic rapture before any persecution could be one of the
most misleading concepts shared among Christians. Since
Jesus taught His followers to be ready, believers were not
wrong to expect His return at any time. However, we have
history to demonstrate that there’s no assurance that
Christians will be delivered from the wrath of man.”
