Follower of Boko Haram Muslim Sect Attempts to Kill Political Leader

As Muslim Beliefs Prevail in India and Muslim Terror Rages in Nigeria, The Tide Ministry continues to Provide God’s Truth

Chambersburg, Pa.Nigerians have suffered consecutive catastrophes in recent months at the hands of the violent Muslim sect, Boko Haram (a name which means “Western Heritage is Sacrilege”). Although India is being praised recently as a nation of great success, it is still one heavily populated by those who practice Muslim beliefs. The Tide , a 64-year-old Ministry, seeks to spread the gospel to un-Christianized countries such as India, and to Nigeria which continually suffers devastating natural disasters, as well as a 49% crime rate, enacted through rape, kidnapping, murder, and ceaseless Muslim terror. The Tide produces and airs radio broadcasts in India and Nigeria, both of which are heavily populated by Muslim sects, and have been tragically affected as a result of their violence. This week, following the murders of 13 police officers at the hands of Boko Haram members in Nigeria, a 65-year-old local leader barely escaped a violent attack on his life by this same group.

One former Muslim fundamentalist whose home was invaded claims to have found salvation through listening to Christian radio broadcasts provided by The Gospel Tide ministry:

In a letter of gratitude to The Tide, this former Muslim wrote: “I am praising God for his kindness to me. I was a devout Muslim. I belonged to a fundamentalist group. I opposed western styled system of things and its education…I was listening to your Hausa language programme in Kaduna, and this was when the Boko Haram group of fundamentalists were attacking police. In the area that I lived in Bauchi State everybody knew me as a freedom fighter for Allah. The Nigerian security officers where searching from house to house to arrest these Muslim fundamentalist of which I was one. The army invaded my home to arrest me, but I quickly showed them my new Bible which I had just bought. They where surprised and asked when I had converted to Christianity. My life was saved. Over one thousand lives were lost as a result of the face off between Muslims and security forces. My thanks go to your Hausa radio programme and its sponsors.”

The Tide® , a 64-year old organization, seeks to provide God’s wisdom and the promises of the gospel to those who do not have the resources to hear God’s Word. In addition to creating the programs and producing them in the heart languages of rural, un-Christianized countries, The Tide provides radios and media devices to bring God’s truth to those who are suffering, and those who are living in corruption that they may learn and find peace in Jesus’ promise of salvation. The “Radios for Nigeria” project seeks to provide Christian truth and encouragement to as many unsaved people as they can reach, both in the Christianized south of Nigeria and the Muslim north, where violence and crime are rampant.

The Tide’s newest project, “Radios for Nigeria,” provides radios and media devices to broadcast the heart language radio programs produced and aired in the languages of Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, which is Nigeria’s official Muslim language (and that of the Boko Haram sect), and Efik, which is spoken by over two-million Nigerians.

“With the upcoming Nigerian election, we, and our listeners in Nigeria, ask for your prayers that God chooses a virtuous, God-fearing president to lead their country, and that the election process is free of violence.  Our prayer is that our broadcasts, and the literature and tapes that we distribute in Nigeria, will help to strengthen and build hope among the Nigerians, like the man above who had served Allah all his life and found Christ through our programs, by allowing them access to the gospel that they may never have had the resources to experience.  With an extravagant crime rate, Nigeria is inhabited by gangs, murderers, rapists and drug users—these are the people that Jesus wanted to reach the most. It is our hope that both civilians and leaders in Nigeria begin to understand the opportunities they have to change their country, and their lives,” states Don Shenk, executive director of The Tide.

The Tide has reached thousands of lost people through its radio programs produced in indigenous languages throughout South Asia, India, and Africa. In many villages in which The Tide ministers, whole families and towns gather daily around a single radio to listen to the Word of God. In one village in India, over 3,000 civilians listened to radios and media players provided by The Tide and 500 were saved.
