America What Has Happened To You?
By Paula Pinto
We are living in a nation that has become so repulsed, not by the thought of God, but by the thought of Him interrupting their sinful lifestlye. Sure, everyone needs Him when things are falling apart, when their are family problems, relationship issues, health concerns, financial turmoil's, but take these problems away and people feel ridiculed by the church for their lack of making "sin" acceptable.
It's not so much that people detest the thought of God as they do the "interruption" that His word places on leading a sinful lifestyle. So what is sin then? Anything that separates you from the love of God, the things that are contrary to His word, the voice you hear inside that says "this is wrong to do," but yet the fleshly desires and selfishness of humanity that would rather please them which were created then the Creator. It is rebellion against the One who knew us before we were born and created us for a purpose that is greater then the fleeting desires that we chase after. It is when all the roads we take that we think will lead us to something that fully satisfies us, yet still leaves us empty that we begin to wonder...Is there more to life then this? Sadly, many don't find that there is until they are bound in addiction, living in lust, feeling worthless in society and for others it is when they have everything material wise that they need but they find that the void is still there. And now we blame America for taking prayer out of public schools, for teaching evolution, for tv shows that are filling teens minds with perversion, for music that seeps in like poison because it intoxicates ones mind to believe that if they just had this or that they'd be happy, and sex is no longer a covenant between a husband and a wife in mainstream America because Desperate Housewives makes it okay for the viewer to believe that it's alright to look outside the box if your not fulfilled at home.
In actuality we have become quite desperate as a nation because we rely on the words "Hope" and "Change" to rescue us out of some rut that all the politicians together couldn't do, and it is because it is that America has chosen to rot from the inside. It's easy to blame the government for what we have become, but the truth is that what we are where it begins, with the choices we make, not with those that are inflicted upon us by those who are not a part of our daily life. We praise the almighty dollar so much more then an almighty God and then wonder why the financial turmoil in America can not be rescued by congress. We've placed more trust in them then we have in God and then question where He is as we watch the country spoil from it's roots. We are ashamed to pray at our dinner table because the person sitting there, who may have no beliefs at all, might be offended.
It's so degusting for me to think that we have totally abandoned the values that this country was founded on so that we can meet appease scientists, liberals, and our own fleshly desires. It really is time that America, as a whole, return to their roots and instead of being so lost in the temptations and lusts of the world that so easily entice them, disregard the God who created them and Christ who saved them so that they can have eternal life. I don't need Obama to give me national day of prayer to encourage others that prayer is important, or for me to pray, but He does send a message that it is not important or insulting to others.
At this point America, my hope and change lies in Christ because He has been the only one who I have ever found hope in and have watched as he changed others.
