Long Beach, CA. – Much like a
Broadway play, TV co-producer and writer Mario Bernheim took his novel,
“Michael’s Reward” out of town and came back with five star reviews by some
very discerning and enthusiastic readers from coast to coast. This is
Bernheim’s first novel.
“Michael’s Reward” takes
the Old Testament book of Job and adapts it beat-for-beat in a modern
spiritual drama set in Santa Barbara, California. The story takes you
through a journey of extremes with Michael, a very successful and faithful
family man who loses everything because God and Satan have made a wager on
his devotion and dedication. Echoing the lives of so many people today,
Michael looses what he thought was important, but finds that the depth of
his faith in God proves to be his salvation in every way.
Mario Bernheim started his career in the
entertainment industry at Universal Studios working for movie director Joel
Schumacher. He was a founding staff member of Comic Relief on HBO, hosted
by Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams. Mario spent 12 years
administering and co-producing TV specials to raise money and awareness for
America’s homeless.
Having visited so many homeless shelters
across the country Mr. Bernheim drew both inspiration and details for his
book from those people who were looking for help and a way back to a life
they once knew. Bernheim added, “Whether it’s Job who lived this story
three thousand years ago or someone in Anywhere, USA, this story will show
us that faith doesn’t come easy but its rewards are immeasurable”.
