You Can
Count Your
Blessings
During Hard
Economic
Times
Brooklyn,
NY,-- There is
an old hymn
which reads
as follows:
Count
your
blessings
name
them one
by one.
Count
your
blessings
see what
God has
done.
Count
your
blessings…name
them one
by one.
Count
your
many
blessings,
see what
God has
done.
These
words,
“Count Your
Blessings,”
have echoed
time and
again, but
do we really
stop in our
tracks and
list our
blessings
one by one?
“Now more
than ever is
a time to
take those
three words
seriously,”
said
Millicent
Perry,
publisher of
Counting
My
Blessings:
111 Reasons
Why I am
Thankful.
Studies have
shown that
there are
personal
breakthroughs
when we
actually
write out
our
thoughts,
feelings,
and ideas,
and are able
to not only
release them
but re-read
them to
become more
in tune with
what we want
in life and
were we are
headed. With
that in
mind, the
idea of
jotting down
our
blessings,
not only
enables us
to recall
all the
wonderful
things God
has done,
but redirect
our thoughts
from the
negativity
which so
easily
besets us.
Thousands of
years ago,
Titus Livius
said, “Men
are slower
to recognize
blessings,
than
misfortunes.”
Perry finds
this to be
true,
individually
and as a
society, but
she hopes to
reverse this
negative way
of thinking
with her new
book.
Counting
My
Blessings:
111 Reasons
Why I am
Thankful,
is a
unique spin
on a
gratitude
journal,
because it gives
each reader
a chance to
be an
author!
Perry’s book
provides 111
blank pages
where you
can list
your
blessings,
and provide
detail of
how each one
came to
pass, thus
giving the
‘you’ the
opportunity
to re-read
it in days,
months or
years from
now!
You can also
visit the
Counting My
Blessings
Website at
http://blessingsamillion.com
and share
your
blessings
which will
then be
posted on
the website
for all to
see.
Especially
during a
time when
our country
is economic
turmoil, it
is easily
possible to
overlook the
simple
things that
we have been
blessed
with. Many
are
discouraged
and need a
reminder of
the
‘goodness’
in their
life despite
these hard
times.
“After
taking this
spiritual
journey you
will be
amazed at
how many
seemingly
simple
things/blessings
we take for
granted each
day and at
the same
time you
will be
overjoyed to
know how
blessed you
truly are,”
Perry said.
As a special
feature,
Perry will
be hosting
a “Count My
Blessings
Week” which
will run
from May
10-May 16,
2009. The
main purpose
of this
event is to
focus on the
good and
positive
aspects of
our lives
and in the
world.
