Small Footprint, Big Handprint
Author Tri Robinson challenges readers in his latest
book to live simply so they can make a big impact on the
world
BOISE,
ID - Living simply for simplicity’s sake only lasts
so long before it loses its luster. But what
if we lived simply so we could change the world? In his
new book Small Footprint, Big Handprint: How to live
simply and love extravagantly (Ampelon Publishing, March
2008), author Tri Robinson makes not only a
passionate call for Christians to change their lifestyle
so they change the world, but he also outlines the path
to get there.
Many Christians recognize that something is terribly
wrong with our world and want to help change
it but feel powerless to do so. The pursuit of the
American dream has become a nightmare for many, leaving
people in tremendous debt, stressed out and stretched in
every direction when it comes to their ability to
volunteer their time or give toward something they
believe in. People are so busy trying to own stuff that
their stuff begins to own them. But Robinson contends
that if Christians really want to make a
difference in the world, that mindset must
change. By simplifying our lifestyles, we suddenly have
the time, energy and money
to give to the things that really matter in this life.
However, Small Footprint, Big Handprint doesn’t get
people all dressed up with no place to go,
unlike some books written on this topic. Robinson says
that we didn’t get complicated lives overnight and we’re
not going to simplify them overnight either. However, by
outlining the areas in people’s lives that need to be
addressed in order to see this transformation occur,
readers will find a clear pathway to begin
their journey toward simplification for the sake of
being able to make a bigger handprint, one that leaves
an indelible mark on this world through being the
hands and feet of Jesus.
